These guys came in just to record drums and take advantage of the space, noise-level tolerance, microphones, and equipment they just didn't have at home where the rest of the album will be recorded. Their drummer Joaquin cherrypicked different drumkit components from friends and associates to kind of create the über kit for the day. The kick drum was really huge and really deep...just a fucking cannon! We did it to 1/2" analog tape and then dumped it to the computer so that they could take 'er home on a hard drive and keep going from there.
